Nemtas Shipping is a company providing an active, high in quality and a safe service in maritime transportation on a worldwide basis. It is a subsidiary of Türkiye İş Bank which is a leading bank in Turkey. We are operating our fleet of dry bulk vessels, oil tanker and providing world-wide seaborne transportation services. Our vessels carry dry bulk goods such as coal, iron ore, grain, and steel products etc.

Our company was founded in 1981 as a port operation corporation in Izmir.

In the following years, other issues came such as brokering, chartering, warehousing business, ship agency and also ship breaking. In the mid 1990’ies by purchasing of our first bulk carrier, named M/V NEMTAS, then ship management activity has started.  By the end of 1990’ies we have already had four vessels under our management. During this period we had improved skills and business in all involved activities.

The turning point in NEMTAS' history came in the year 2000 when NEMTAS became more globalised in shipping. NEMTAS' business really began to thrive from the year 2000 onwards; very active of time had been begun.

We have purchased three product tankers in order to carry the cargoes of leading fuel Distribution Company of Turkey. As a strategy, we are very keen to keep our fleet young, dynamic and safe. Therefore, M/V Gemport-2 had been superseded with these tankers in 2004.

On the other hand, as of 2001 NEMTAS had bought 51 % shares of Gemport Port & Warehousing Facilities Co. which was the first private port in Turkey. In this manner NEMTAS has expanded its port activities by the possession of this port. Also our second vessel, new building M/V NEMTAS-1 has purchased in this year.

A rejuvenation of the fleet has just begun in 2005 with M/V Nemtas-2, a new building vessel, followed by M/V Nemtas-4, M/V Karsiyaka, and M/V 26 Agustos. For the time being, the capacity of our fleet has reached 252.959 DWT.

Especially after 2007’s second period, our company strategy and vision deeply influenced by the change of the management, In accordance with this strategy and vision; we intend to expand our fleet by acquiring additional vessels and improve our world-wide shipping experience and skills.

We are also focused on building and maintaining enduring relationships with other parties in the international shipping industry such as brokers, suppliers, classification societies, insurers and others.
